Working from within to make the future possible
Couleurs d’Ayiti‘s vision: to give Haitian local actors a direct voice through in-depth interviews and concrete funding for their projects. These Haitian citizens and friends of Haiti discuss the challenges and share their current projects, and above all, their vision for reconstruction.
The principle: transform the existing narrative by amplifying local voices while ensuring that every financial contribution directly funds their initiatives.
For Couleurs d’Ayiti, now is the time to prepare for the post-crisis period. Because when the guns fall silent, only Haitian citizens on the ground will be able to work from within to build the future.
These project leaders are working today to make tomorrow’s Haiti possible.

About Couleurs d’Ayiti
For many people, Haiti brings to mind only poverty and natural disasters. This limited perception, though understandable given the images shown for decades, ironically represents one of the greatest obstacles to the country’s development and to the effectiveness of international solidarity.
Imagine discovering that this “poorest country in the northern hemisphere” is actually:
- The birthplace of the universal abolition of slavery through the Bois CaĂŻman ceremony in 1791
- The first independent Black republic, which defeated Napoleon’s army in 1803
- The first democratic republic of the modern world, having abolished slavery 44 years before France and 61 years before the United States
- The inspiration and supporter of independence movements worldwide
- The pioneer of ethnopsychiatry
- And more
This little-known historical richness represents immense potential for developing the sovereignty of Haitian people and peace in Haiti.
Thank you to all Haitians and friends of Haiti for continuing to carry the flame of Freedom against all odds, the freedom that an enslaved people gave to humanity.
Respect for Haiti!
